About 1893, Carl Hammer was killed by Hugo Pleschner for trespassing on his property. It seems that Carl Hammer crossed Pleschner’s land while going to Parrish for supplies.

Carl Hammer is buried in section 20, town of Summit. This burial site, until the 1970’s, had a fence and rose bushes, but all is gone and the land is being farmed.
